Hey all my names Alan I'm 21 from Dundee and have just got myself a nice Mercedes C230 Kompressor W202 manual.

I have been driving it the past few days and have noticed a few problems I hope I can get some advice with. First of all as the weather is taking a turn for the worst we all of course use our heaters. Mines is working and I can hear the motor going BUT there is no air being blown out of any vents and as you can imagine this is pretty stressful on a chilly morning. The second problem is the rev limiter seems to kick in earlier than any other car I have driven before (about 6k) is this normal?

Any help is much appreciated :thumb:

Ok son, you don't want to have grey hairs at an early age...but welcome! You got big cojones! Well done!

Cheers lads :) I also have a BMW e36 and a Celica GT4 ST205 for weekend fun :D but always loved the Benz W202 I have some nice plans for it once I get it all upto scratch.

Hi Alan and welcome to the forum. When you say not blowing on any vents do you mean not even the one for the windscreen? As for the rev limiter,do you mean on standstill?

Hello Alan Welcome from Me too :thumb:

Here's a diagram of the heater assembly- you can access the heater blower 390 from underneath the fascia on the passengers side. Could be the fan is gone or one or more of the main diverter flaps are non operational - think they are still vacuum operated in this model but not sure. Welcome.

Thanks lads :bannana:

Yeah it's not even blowing from the vents at the windscreen, was thinking it may be some or all of the diverter flaps not working. I'm guessing I will have to dismantle it and have a good look I was just wondering if it was a common fault??

I mean it doesn't want to rev while driving, it's like it hesitates at low revs and then shoots off possibly a very slight missfire? Then it hits the limiter around 6k, I feel it is a bit early but maybe they all do this? The guy I got it off of said it may need a lambda sensor, so possibly this is the problem?

All help appreciated guys :D

For the holding back and lack of revving I suspect the MAF sensor is duff. Meter pin5 WRT Gnd. It should read ~2v at idle rising to ~4.8V at full chat.

Sounds like your pollen filter is choked- not uncommon on W202's. Take it out and see if it makes a difference before going any further.

Pollen filter was choked, and I replaced coilpacks and leads the thing runs like a dream now and is much much faster than I expected :D

Thanks for all your input and welcomes guys :D
