The SEC is one of my favourites and what created my love of Mercs.

My brother in law was a partner of Bearing Bros and in 1984 was given a brand new SEC as his first company car. Every now and then he'd throw me the keys to go shopping or pick up one of his kids. I felt like lord muck and loved every minute.

Yours is a belter. I hope you enjoy it.

Takes me back in time too. My first Benz was a 1984 reg A 931 KFP 500SEC with Rial alloys and a D&W bodykit. It was gloss black 040 and gave me just under 6 years of great fun. Hope you enjoy yours.

Thanks guys really appreciate the comments.

I've owned this car 3 times now, it's my pride & joy. Never wanted to sell it but came in to financial difficulties twice & had to let it go with the promise of first refusal when the new keepers decided to sell.

The first chap I sold it to really took care of it & always had it maintained at the SEC shop in Kent. After a few years I managed to get it back, kept it for a couple of years & thought I was back on my feet but no, it had to go again.... Thank god I'm out of my mess now & last year got my hands on it again after 6 years. The pictures you see are of it 6 years ago. It needs restoring now as it was just left stood, hoping to get it back on the road for next summer.

What makes it so special is, it has 5.4 amg head & cams by Stratton.

I am in need of some cosmetic bits for it so please let me know if anyone has any bits up for grabs. I.e a pre '91 AMG badge as it went missing when the previous owner had it.

Ps sorry for the essay

Well done for owing the same car three times. I thought I was bad when I once owned a smoke silver w126 twice but now I can tell the wife that there's someone out there who's worse! Good luck with the project, don't give up!

Lol, my partner thinks I'm nuts but it just had to be done. Thanks

Oh the 5.4? That is very special, I'd keep hold of that one!

Yes indeed. I originally brought it of a trader who took it in px. Needed a bit of work on it then as well but he didn't know what it was. It was advertised as a normal 500 SEC & that's what I presumed I was on my way to look at, I got there, went through the massive history file that he didn't bother taking a look at himself & noticed all the documentation from Stratton dating back to '84, I snapped it right up!

Wow, lucky you :-)
