Hi all,

Newbie to MB, just upgraded from my Sabb 9-3 to a CLK230 (W208) Avantgarde Kompresor ! cant wait to pick it up next week :D

Any advise on the CLK ??, I have been looking at the Valeo issue & might have to take a look, other than that theres no rust & everything looks good :bannana: (should I be posting elsewhere re valeo ??).

got the Nokia 6310 kit bult in so will probably be looking to get a MBU3000, should sound gud through the Bose upgrade :thumb:

Hello and Welcome from me too :thumb:

been living with my clk for around a month now & very happy with her, shes a bit thirster then the saab but she's worth it lol

Had a look at she's not got the valeo so no worries there

Good to hear that you're still enjoying your W208. I had mine for 10 years and loved it. http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/members/knighterrant-albums-clk230k-sold-after-10-great-years.html

If yours is truly rust free than you're very lucky. To keep it that way I'd recommend (from experience) that you always ensure that you clean around the inside edge of the wheel arches every time you clean the rest of the car. The design is such that dirt readily gets trapped in there so retains the moisture that leads to rust. A couple of extra minutes cleaning here is well worth while.

Another piece of advice is to ensure that you change the ATF every few years (do it now if there's no record in the service book). My gearbox started to play up a bit (not changing up as soon as it should whilst cold). After changing the oil it was as good as new again.

I'm surprised you're finding that your CLK is thirsty. I was always impressed with mine, once getting just over 40mpg on a long run. Around town and using the performance did take it down to below 20 though, I must admit. But overall I was getting about 29mpg, with the majority of driving being short trips, which I thought was quite reasonable.
