Hi, just joined the forum, and not long owned a Merc so thought it was finally time I got myself on the forum. Bought an SLK after a series of performance cars, none of which I was satisfied with for long. I had my eye on something else when the Merc popped up in budget. I decided to go for a test drive. Sadly the dealer hadn't gotten the car ready, so left it with no fuel and a flat battery. Inevitably I got to the end of the road on the test drive and broke down, then of course wouldn't restart. It made me laugh so much I bought the car, and I haven't looked back, so I am now a Merc convert. However, on the down side, I have a very leaky windows/roof. If anyone could point me in the direction of the 'window adjustment thread', or an alternative fix, I would appreciate it. Many thanks:o

Welcome onboard.

Hello everyone. I am also new to the forum. Please excuse my ignorance, but I can't find ANYWHERE how to post a thread. I have a question concerning my 2005 SLK 200. My battery keeps going flat. It's a new battery, so I took it back to the store where I bought it and they checked and said it was in perfect condition.
If I could explain, I am a new widow who hasn't got a clue about cars. My son put the battery on charge and everything was fine for a while. The battery went flat on me on three other occasions, the alarm would go off and drain the battery. I took it to the garage when small electrical things started to go wrong. It turned out that the seal in the driver's door had completely broken down and water had got into the electrics under the driver's seat. That job was costly, but after having the door seal fixed, the electrics dried out, everything was fine again. Until last Wednesday, when it rained. The battery was flat again.
It seems, on reading posts on here, that it's a common fault for batteries to go flat.
Where do I go from here? Should I buy a battery tester thingy and take out the fuses one by one to find what's draining it?
Also, I don't go on long journeys and usually only use the car once or twice a week. Short trips to the shops. Is that where I'm going wrong?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in anticipation.

Hello and welcome to you.
