High mile W210

I'd hazard a guess that's been a Taxi.......based on nothing whatsoever.

I wonder how much life that engine's got let in it?
You are suggesting that the engine has a lifespan. The good news is that practically all the parts of the engine, and the engine itself can be replaced. The 320 v6 will probably run forever, it's the gearbox I'd be getting advice about.

Think about it: It's apparently got a full service history, that works out as about 25 services so far so it has seen a mechanic at least 3 times per year if you include the MOT inspection! Also IMHO cars rust from sitting around going nowhere rather than being used so you might find this is less rusty than a low-miler.

I've not checked the going-rate for a 210 of that age but it's probably a bargain if mechanically sound, the 320 is no slouch either although it is thirsty.

Its not that thirsty, I get 24 combined, and 30 plus on a run.

The price seems a bit OTT in my opinion. My dad has the 2.4 V6 version and its clocked 110,000 and probably worth about £2700

Surprised it's not up for sale at some small time trader's yard - '88k miles mate, but we ain't got the history for it...' :D ;)

True there are other things which can wear out or deteriorate first.
But I was thinking more along the lines of the head gasket, various engine seals and the ECU. Or were issues resolved when Mercedes switched to using the V6? All these things can be repaired but at a cost which may not financially viable vs. the cost of the car.

So I know an engine hasn't got a "life", just used as a figure of speech relating to what I've just mentioned. :)

The V6 range that Merc introduced are reckoned to be one of the best engines they have ever made.....bomb proof and capable of huge mileages.

We had one come back into my company, an E280 that had been used for collecting airline pilots from their homes and taking them to the airport (petrol was used as they were often collected very early in the morning and diesel was considered to be too noisy)....that E280 had 295,000 miles on the clock when it came back in and drove like a dream. Looking around the rest of the car it had held up very well and the bodywork was still very clean
