Hi All, probably been done before, but, Whats the highest mileage Mercedes you have seen on the road?

Make model and mileage - was it dead yet?!

My W124 300TE-24 had 430,000 miles on it before being written off . However that was on its second engine as the original unit only lasted to 380,000 miles ( don't make them like they used to ) .

Only  lol.Back to the thread the highest mileage i`ve seen, was a w140d in Belgium with around 970k km :)

I've seen a 2000 W210 E320 CDi estate on 550K miles in the UK.

interesting to see the thread i started before.

my car is now on 213,000

Yes , looking back on that thread prompted me to wonder how Glojo is doing as we haven't heard from him on here in a while ?

I know of a W124 that goes into my local MOT station every year and it now has just over 600,000 miles on the clock. Was originally a Taxi and was the first taxi on the fleet. The owner wont ever get rid of it as he feels that he owes it to the car.

In his ownership the only major things its needed is a new autobox and a head gasket.

Its still going strong and the bodywork, whilst a bit battered, is remarkably rust free

I was on holiday in Agadir, Morocco during the Christmas period where all the taxi's are old MB's. I was returned to the airport in a 30-odd plus year old one with 512,000 kilometres on the clock.

When I mentioned it to the driver, he told me it had stopped working some 10 years before! He approximated that the car had done more than a million kilometres! And this probably goes for most of these Moroccan taxis....

I reckon six-cylinder and diesel W124s aren't really run in till at least 100k, and probably only beginning maturity around 200k or so :)

I can imagine quite easily that most MBs would be capable of much higher, but generally they either get too old or rusty, uneconomical to repair or are crashed before they reach much greater mileages.

Yip, the mechanicals usually outlast the duff body work.

Someone I know has done over 200k in his 2005 (55) W211 220cdi. He is in the taxi business, always runs e-classes and says that his best ever car was a w124 diesel that he px/ed with over 750,000 miles on. He buys brand new. Incidently the 124 was still on it's original engine and gearbox. He is about to change the 211 and he said it was the most troublesome car that he has owned, even his w210 was better. Faults have been mainly electrical and the gearbox and rad have just been changed due to water ingress. Incidently I thought that this problem (Valeo?) was sorted by 2005.
