got a feeling that before too long dash cams will be mandatory just like dtr lights are on all new cars.
Daytime running lights are a menace in themselves : over the last week or so I've seen at least one numpty every night driving with no rear lights on at all !
The first one I saw , an Audi A3 , I flashed a couple of times from behind and he realised , putting on his lights with a wave of thanks .
The second one , I came up behind 5 mins later , despite me flashing several times , no response . When he crawled past a queue of traffic in lane 1 , only to push in near the front , I stopped alongside ( nothing coming behind me as it was a section of 2 lane dual carriageway splitting into two to feed onto opposite sides of a motorway , and I was the only one going right ) then tooted , gesturing him to lower his window - the elderly driver duly wound his window down and seemed unable to comprehend he had no rear lights showing .
Every subsequent night I've seen at least one , including one stopped waiting to turn right who was nearly rear ended by a car ahead of me ! Saw one yesterday morning too .
It seems that so many drivers of these vehicles don't realise DTR's are front only ( why ? The ones always fitted to SAABs and Volvos always kept the tail lamps on too ) and don't realise they are all but invisible from behind after dark ; the dashboard lamps lighting up without lights on don't help either .
It almost needs DTR equipped cars to have at least auto-on sidelights , which can't be disabled , for the brain-dead .
besides that - some of these front LEDs are just too bright and cause dazzle .
