Hotmail problem

I use Msn Hotmail usually without any problems. On changing pc recently, I now find I cannot open attachments. The only options are 'save' and 'cancel'.
Is there a solution? Thanking you

Probably due to changes to your Security settings in your new browser/email or your resident antivirus/ internet security program.

The security setting is at medium. I use AVG and the operating system is Windows XP Professional. What should I be looking at? I am the original IT dummy!
