How do i remove the gear knob ?

Right , I have a manual w210 e220 ( 2001 ), I want to remove the gear knob but how do I so it it's spinning on the shaft but not coming off, is there anything else I need to do to remove it, appreciate all help I'm advance

I think you pull the gaitor inside out and pull it over the knob itself. Then twist the clip half a turn at the top of the shaft and it should just pull off.

Never easy writing about knobs/ shafts and pulling off.

Lol sambo, I was thinking of a more professional word to describe what I ment but was like ahhh forget it just got in with the usual words lol, the previous owner has cut all the leather off the from the knob as I believe the gaiter and knob are in one piece so now all is left is to remove the knob but do I twist the bottom part if the knob half a turn and pull the top, hope I got this right, thanks

Manual knob looks the same as the automatic, I think it’s a ¼ turn then pull to the top.
