:dk:You know when you have a nagging concern at the back of your mind that you wonder when the time could be up for your current exhaust - especially if its the original factory fit.The problem is as they tend to corrode from the inside, its hard to judge when its on its way out - generally when you hear it,its too late - so how long have members had an original factory fit exhaust on for - I drive a 12 mile commute and few if any short journeys, which will help - it has been on for 4 years and 8 months.

3 years since i had it a according to the SH witch is full mercedes,it was never changed and is close to 17yrs

My 190D is still on its original centre pipe and back box. tailpipe is badly corroded, but I'll forgive that after 19 years and 157000 miles...

14 years, 190,000 kms whole system is factory.
Only beaten by my Toyota Starlet Diesel, 18 years, 202,000kms which still has oringinal clutch too. Oh, and rear brakes. How do they do that!

I rarely use the cars for short trips, so I imagine that the condensation inside has the time to dry completely before stopping the engine. No signs of major rust on the pipes :thumb:

My 2000 W202 is still running on its original exhaust. :)

MB exhausts are very high quality. They seem to last forever!

probably just as well with the price of a C43 AMG. replacment exhaust, inc. CATs.

The guy I dealt with at MB Macclesfield was adamant that only (I think) Porsche exhausts were better than an original MB.

NEVER!

I do a few Porsches and the exhausts are cr@p. Manifold bolts snap heat sheilds vibrate bolts seize etc etc.

original, so 9 years, but I think the baffles are starting to rust as it getting a little noisier.

Cant remember the last time I had to replace part of an exhaust system.....probably back in the mid 1990's Have driven mainly BMW's & MBs since.

It's a classic illustration that car manufacturers can make components last for very little extra cost ------if they want to.

Porsche 968, April 1994, 61K miles, original exhaust.
July 2001 C270, 76K miles, nothing in the SH to show anything changed on the exhaust system so assume it's original.

Original on my 320 CDi - has needed a little hint of help rewelding the lug on the back box, but so far so good.
