How much for an auto g/box oil change?

I have no issue with anyone working for cheap or for next to nothing (as long as it is all done legally, of course).

But why criticise anyone who charges more for their labour? It's a free market, and diversity of prices is a good thing.

Ultimately we all have free choice.

Gone off track a bit guys.
I only asked what the cost would be, and if indie garages could do the job as good.

Yes , indies can do the job as well , if not better than main dealers.

It is important that everything remains scrupulously clean.

Had mine done after 80k on the clk430 , utterly transformed the changes in the car.

Cost £165 , hardly worth getting dirty yourself for.

Did you see any improvement in MPG?
Just wondering if it would help me over the 30 MPG. Just can't seem to break through that number.

Haha

I don't even like to think about the mpg !

I can crack 30 on a run , as long as I don't go too potty.

If you can't do 30 in a 320 on a motorway trip , something is wrong.

I know what you mean.
I usually run V8 Yanks. So fuel economy is a forbiden subject.
I just thought the 320 should get better than 30.
All the previous owner did to the drivetrain is a ST/ST Cat back system (sounds gorgeous).

Might sound gorgeous but if the pipe diameters and gas flow is not correct then you will reduce torque and ultimately use more fuel, not saying this is the problem but my BIL 320 does 34 mpg all day long on the motorway so something no t right somewhere.

It's a custom made Poweflow system that the previous owner had fitted.
All good systems should work on the same principles.
A free flow system doesn't always mean lower MPG.
Generally speaking a free flow releases a bit more BHP. It doesn't give more, it just releases some that's already there. Most people that think their economy has dropped, because the released extra power is more fun to play with, so more fuel used.
If used sensibly, the extra power on tap means you can keep the engine at lower RPM to maintain the same speed as before.
There are a lot of forums that go into this in more detail than I can.
My local Mercedes dealer advertises an economy check for a few quid.
Has anyone else seen, or used this service? I just know if I take it to them they will come back with a list of what they want me to buy from them.

Your prices on here are mad,my tech does 7G boxes oil change and filter for £90 all in. He's fully qualified working for Merc dealer for 9years but does these as a side job so if you are in Scotland and need it done PM me.
