Been looking at a gla45 for a while now so before I take the plunge I’ve been doing my research into running costs ect. Just checked the insurance costs and it’s horrendous. I’m cracking 50 with a single sp30 on my licence and 20+ years no claims. Cheapest quote is just under 1700 quid. That’s ridiculous.

It is almost certainly your post code area rather than your own driving history that is responsible for the quote.

On road or garaged ?

An AMG , even 'just' and A class parked outside of a garage in a UK town is going to be a worry sadly.....

It's only half the car, but a GLA250 if they do them still, will be one third the price or less I'd expect.
Oh, and the 'moral hazard' of someone who wants AMG performance will have their little algorithm sweating, even though you are statistically of a sensible age now.

Got c250 and checking that earlier it’s going up 300 quid this year.
