All,
I have just bought a used MB roof box (see the pictures) I obviously need to fit to my roof bars (not an MB)
The fixings supplied are two sets of one foot long steel straps with threaded studs at each end. What is missing to fit these to roof bars which run across the car?

That looks just like a Thule box , the strips sound like T rack fittings which are used in the aero bars ( they slide in the top with the studs upperwards you lower the bos on through the holes and attatch the wheeelnuts to the inside.
If you have conventional steeel bars you need a thule box std kit which is 8 coach type bolts with wheel nuts and washers and 4 strips of metal to secure , they have 1 square hole and a slot for easy removal .
Thule normally really good with spares give them a ring.

I've had very very good service from The Roofbox Company online - great at answering questions, etc.

Yes as above you need genuine MB roof bars for that box... great system..
