Hunting for a C63... Who makes the best engine?

Hi,

I'm on the hunt for a C63 and having looked at a few, I started thinking about the engines since they are made by different people. Has anyone done any analysis as to which of these handbuilt beauties are "good" and which ones should be avoided?

I am very tempted to buy one made by Rijad Handznovic but I have no idea if his are any good or not. I'm also particularly interested in a PPP model so I'd be interested on your thoughts as to who can assemble these things well and who I should steer clear of. As the car will probably run out of warranty during my ownership, I particularly want to avoid getting one that suffers from the head bolt issue so I'd really like to get one made by an engineer that puts them together properly.

You may think that there is an element of lightheartedness to the way I have asked this question but I am genuinely interested in any real information about the differences in quality between the engineers work.

They will be all the same. They are only hand assembled.

The personalisation of the newer AMG engines is essentially a marketing exercise.

I doubt Mercedes would let the first year apprentices loose on them so you should be ok whichever one you go for.

As above, they're not hand crafted, just bolted together by men holding robots. They'll all be the same.

I think you should buy one built by each engineer, assess them all and keep the best. It's the only way to be sure

The only reason according to the Mercedes Dealer that the put the name on (apart from the nice touch) is all to do with his tools. i.e. if a engine goes in for repair and its due to a bolt not being torqued correctly they check the guys tools and if the tool is set to the wrong torque, thats when they recall the engines built by Joe Bloggs.

I thought it was widely known that Florian Brader builds the best AMG engines ?
