I.C.E in a nutshell

Hey guys just started after such a long time to get my ICE sorted.... today i purchased a 12" Vibe active sub, the extended bass i got is wiked... all i need to do now is sort out my front and rear door speakers... what you think i should do with the rear shelf??? shall i just scrap them all together??? the air from the sub is just making them sound distorted... shall i take them out and let the air flow into th car?????

tbh i am really not a fan of vibe kit, i really do nto liekt he sound the box's are tunrd high bit if your happy with it your happy with it

what i would say is remove the rear shelf speakers but leave the grills in place

tehn fit some front components in the doors running off a good amp, no need for rear speakers in any car, stay away from bass, boshmann, sony, splx, pyle etc etc tho

:( You dont like Vibe! It Sound Kool in my car i think , then again havent heard many other makes to be honest, my mate has a 12" spl and it soundz SH*T!!!! shall i stick to mb quarts for front speakers? as they were mentioned earlier in the thead!! y should i not change the rear door speakers???

put it this way, you pay for the kit, whyt he hell should you compromise yoru frotn speaker budget for freelaoders in the back (and rear speakers hard the front soundstage) tbh vibe are ok for budget but when you get to the level of install im plaiing (2 diamond subs costing a good £360 a throw and the mono amp to run them costing over £500, thats jsut the sub end, not mentioning the frotn end or headunit array it takes a hell fo a lot to impress)

tbh for front speakers its subjective, depends what you want, how much do you wanna spend and amplify them as head unit outpits are well total lies

The moral of the story with any ICE system as far as I am concerned is - quality, not quantity.
As Samuel is trying to point out, if say, for example, your budget was £300 for adding an improvement to your system, dont waste it on 3x pairs of halfords speakers!
Instead, I would budget, say £150 for a decent set of front component speakers (and disconnect the rear doors and rear shelf speakers).
£100 to buy an entry level 2-channel amplifier (again, emphasise on quality and not a max power 800W driven into 1 ohm amplifier with flashing blue lights and all the bulls**t!)
And the remaining £50 I would spend on some decent cables. If you feel like one more worthwhile addition, I would suggest some some deadening material (for the front doors). It really isn't that expensive, makes a marked improvement in both sound quality and reduces cabin noise somewhat. And after all, it would be the best opportunity to install it whilst the door cards are off and the speakers are out!
Trust us on this, you really won't be disappointed, and stop having a mental block about disconnecting the rears, this WILL provide a much, much better soundstage and will give a far superior sound to any 6x9's your mate has in corsa!
Hope this helps,
Will
P.S, no offence Samuel, but why plough £8000 into a peugeot 306?
Surely even if you had to reduce your audio budget slightly you would be better off buying a Mercedes and spending less on audio kit?You can always add to it later on. I would still rather have a even a 190E than a 306 any day!

its not a 306 i have atm, that went under a hgv when i was comign out of a junction, im in a rover 218 diesel atm and i can afford to buy a merc its the insurance (getting quotes of 3-4grand for 3rd party for my rover as i have a write off, live in a seriousely high crime area with no off road parking)

adn even tho the install would cost mabry 7-8 grand including fitting i am doing it all myself and am gettign a good 15-20% off the equiptment and im gonna be buying it all over the years so it aint THAT bad

anyway bhav how much are you looking at for the front spakers and a amplifier (mac audio produce some fantastic budget amplifiers) what sort of music do you listen to?

if you still want rear speakers leave them running off the headunit and only fade them in ever so slightly when you ahve rear passengers but ive found good amped fronts fill the back of most cars with very little need for rears

but for the money the vibe sub box's you ahve are good but they dont suit my listening styles

Bhav, i think Samual summed it up to a tee, leave the rear grills, and put some speakers in the rear doors, easiest way, a set of two ways is sufficient, no need to spend on components as you would need to find a suitible mounting place for the tweeter!

yea why waste your money on sponging freeloaders hitching a ride (i arent even gpnna be that kind to the front passenger as i am setting up the soundstage for me :D)

im a evil nasty person

thnx guys for you help i will get at it right away, and let you know how it goes!!!
