but i'm saying it very quietly so the CLK doesn't hear me! :o

mine was in at Merc Derby for the glovebox to be replaced under warrantly, the catch wouldn't 'catch' anymore & was becoming very annoying

i'd requested an auto courtesy car as they normally give you a manual A class. i've got nothing against an A class but the manual really hurts my dodgy knee!

so, a brand new SLK 200 kompressor was mine to play with for a few hours, and i loved it! :thumb: it felt a bit too much like a go-cart to start off with but once i'd got used to being closer to the ground, it was so much fun!

who'd of thunk a little 1.8 (turbo?) could be so much fun?

for practicality as our main car, i'm not quite sure it's a car that i could live with on a day to day basis, but i think there would be a lot of :D per mile!

we've got no plans to change ours at the moment, but i found myself taking a peek at what SLK's were available nearly new...

I love the new SLK's I drove a 55reg slk55 amg and never had any fun in any car and i've driven a few AMG's before and they are not as fun to drive as the SLK! I'm after an AMG 55 hopefully i'll get one sometime next year...

I had a brace of SLK's. 1 x 200 and 1 x 55.

you had to learn to pack (and also required the purchase of a second car for anything larger than a decent shoppin trip) if you went away.

There really is no space in reality.

the Nappa leather made the seats more comfortable but the normal leather was a bit hard. not much padding in the seats.

don't let anyone push you into to making sure it has the sports suspension. in the 200, which is a very light engine, the car bumps its way over any road surface. the bigger the engine the heavy it is, the more compliant the sport suspension becomes. Avoid that option.

I liked mine.

yup, a cracking little car - but after now being back in the CLK (which really does feel like a 'car' ;)), i doubt i could live with the lack of space in the SLK :(.

the seats were very comfy & supportive but on country lanes, you could feel every single bump & rut! surf's up trips to Cornwall would be interesting, no matter how great my packing skills might be, no way is a bodyboard fitting in there!

oh well, fingers x'd for the lottery & it would be my weekend car for definite! (along with an Aston Martin for the day to day running about... :D).

That's why I got a CLK350 Cabfiolet as well as the SLK32///AMG....

Though as mentioned before elsewhere, I went away with my better half for ten days in the SLK to southern Spain, and took everything, including evening wear and the obligatory umpteen optional pairs of shoes etc, and the roof was down the whole (trip thus in theory reducing storage)...
Pack carefully you'd be staggered what the SLK can accommodate...:)

Well you can get some things in it yes. And as you say pack careful. I learnt to pack quite well and even got squishy bags to help so I can squeeze things in. But once you fill the Passenger seat with self loading cargo, there is a massive shortfall of space.

Trying buying 4 empty suitcases and taking them home in one.

Hence another car required. You can hire a bigger car for bigger shopping expeditions I guess. Or a van maybe?
