Half of my shed (I don’t have a garage) is full of detailing products ceramic sealants, waxes, polishes, clay bars and mitts Plus a load of hood cleaners, All purpose, cleaners, household cleaners. Shampoo Snow foam polishes, plus enough cloth to cover the shed quite literally. I have bucket loads of buckets I’m the one I think about it. I don’t know how came by all this stuff as it just seems to slowly accumulate.
On a nice day with not too much bright sunlight, as many have found water spots are a bitch. It is great to get out there and show your car, some care and attention. When winter comes along that it becomes more of a chore so you really should get the protection done in late autumn. Hoping it will last until spring summer next year.
I have some old kitchen wall cupboards in my garage full of detailing and painting/anti rust products (half of Autoglym and Bilt Hamber's catalogues I think

I've been giving her car and my little runabout a really good clean and seal ready for winter for the exact reason you say. Her car is Diamond Silver, so it hides marks well, but I still did my best to buff them out. Mine being sold red it a little less forgiving, but a 2 stage machine polish, then EGP and it's looking great and should see through winter with an occasional wash when it's not too cold, plus a top up of the ceramic spray.
As of this evening both cars are prepared for winter with a double coat of sealant and looking great, so I guess I'll have to find another hobby to get on with over winter. Not too hard as I have a project car in the garage...
