I really don't like kickdown

I haven't driven your car, obviously... but I find it odd that you can't avoid accidentally hitting kickdown.

I very rarely use kickdown (driving like an old nun these days.... :) ), but at the same time I have never experienced unintended kickdown in any car I drove, petrol or diesel.

Perhaps there's a fault with your accelerator pedal mechanism?

I'm sure it's fine .

It serves no purpose in this application and I've fixed it , couldn't be happier .

Not the one to think along these lines..

Is the anti kickdown requirement driven by the need for maximum fuel economy? Seems to be a popular subject/ambition amongst drivers of oil burners.:D

Just torque and progress .

Just a case now of will just 5mm do it or add to make proven 10mm .

Lol , totally forgot to check if the limiting of range means that I don't get overriden and can get an earlier flappy upchange instead of the pointless 4600 rpm limiter.

If successful it'll be the icing on the cake .

There's a few threads running currently which leave me wondering if my tea has been spiked.
It hasn't been...this is real!!!!!! Extraordinary, but true, and redgull hasn't put in his tuppence worth for a while.

It's all entertaining especially when members question my driving ability .

It's all a question with where this engine's torque is . It's low and especially low with diesel with two turbos .

The kickdown of two gears and 4,600 rpm serves no purpose but to impede progress .

That's because OEM does have all the best answers - for most drivers. But apparently some just don't drive like the rest of us....

I can understanding the mechanics behind a gadget that allows you to floor the accelerator without the gearbox shifting down, but this is just not something that I ever had a need for. Nor do find it useful for me now that I know about it...

Best of luck with your quest.

No luck involved .

OEM can always be improved.

Dusty OE pads , suspension , remapping , engine oil , foot rest , etc .

After all we can set up our cars the way we want , display , belt pre tensioners etc .

We're individuals... but I'm not so alien on this high revving diesel matter because others agree .

You have put in some effort to push down the kickdown switch, have you tried to just not push that hard on the accelerator?

Tried it , I don't like it .

Want rid , so limited travel .

Happy Days .

To summerise, rather than modify your driving style and having a choice of how hard you press the pedal for any circumstance, you have "improved" your car by taking that choice away and are now limited to only allowing part throttle to be used?

The choice serves no purpose , best rid , however probably excellent in a Honda VTEC .

Gearbox still drops a gear as nessissary determined by the gearbox .
