IE window size problem

I have Internet Explorer (version 7 but the problem existed in previous versions as well) and when a link opens a new window (not tab), this new window is very small. I resize it, but it reverts to the old size when another window is opened. I have tried closing the new window while holding down various combinations of Shift, Ctrl and Alt but to no avail.
Some sites manage to change the size of the new window, and this then becomes the default size of the new window.

How do I set the default size of a new window in Internet Explorer?

I am quite happy using regedit, I just need a pointer as to where to look.

Thanks.

Shouldn't need Regedit.

Try opening a window from the IE shortcut get a link on the page then right click to open the link in a new page. Close the earlier instance of IE and set this new page to the size you want. Then hold down left shift and close the window. This should now become the default size.

And earlier (IE6) version of this on the forum here

This works on my laptop...

Close all IE windows.
Open IE (once only).
Resize the window, and then close it.

When I open a new browser it opens up at the size I left it at.

I hope this helps...

Thanks for the replies. Works a treat, provided you resize manually rather than with the maximise button.
