I'm back, and a question...

Hello folks,

It's been a while since I've been on here, and after a 2 year assignment to Switzerland, and a brief dalliance with a Lexus IS200 I'm back at the helm of another Mercedes - a late R170 SLK 230 Kompressor.

Now I have a question, my new steed is suffering from fogging of the headlights, which I understand is a common fault, and was something I used to reduce the price when I bought it.

I've been looking at after-market projector units available online from sites like eBay - do any SLK owners on here have any experience of these? Are they any good? Are they even legal?

Any advice greatly appreciated...

Re the lights its a sticky subject, wait for the replies from the SLK owners.

To be legal you should fit the leveling device and this is quite involved

Well, we had an unhappy period back at the beginning of last year, when it was off the road for a month or so with a mystery engine problem. Cost me the thick end of £2k in the end; new water pump, MAS, coils, ECU, bla bla bla.

Then it was locked away in Germany for six weeks at the beginning of this year...

It seems we're destined never to enjoy a January together.

Yes from what I've seen on eBay, they use regular Halogen bulbs...
