Called Lpool for a C service @ 21k miles and maintenance work - came back at £220, I queried it and we got to £427 inc air filter and poly drive belt

Tried Wirral, £539 inc brake fluid change, pointed out they did that 12 months ago and it was reduced to £400.82 and told it didnt need an air filter or poly belt

Called MB HQ and asked what it needed and so far its took them 4.5 hours to check

This aint good, I want competent and pro service that is consistent

I think I`ll try Chester now .....

Oh and so far Lpool and Chester have took over 24 hours to call ref a warranty

Think that applies to many things at the moment..

One of the approved indys which have serviced my car gave me a copy of their extensive service checklist - which was several pages long and pretty detailed. It also says in the back of the handbook (on mine anyway) what needs doing when.

Shouldn't be that difficult for them to refer back to a document somewhere... or do modern MBs tell you what they want based on engine management..

Agree above,

Took mine to MB tech in Warrington, they know there stuff, tell it how it is and did everything I asked for a sensible price.

Funny enough when I collected my car they were just cleaning a CLS.

Ok you don't get the fancy coffee and dolly bird?? but you DO Get a great service on YOUR car which is what you want.

Can i take a CLS55 to MB tech ?

im sure under the terms and conditions of the used car warranty it has to be serviced at a dealer. just to make you aware as i saw you talking about warranties in another thread

Its a Mercedes isn't it....

and their a Mercedes Specialist with the Star machine etc....

Use to work for RoadRange in Liverpool until the move for nr the Docks.

So Yes,

Give them a call, 01925 653 050 (Will or Shane)

Like I say its not what your probably use to with the Mercedes dealers but they did give the impression they knew their stuff and get on with it.

Hello

Have a read at the blurb on their website

http://www.mercedesservicingwarrington.co.uk/

quote from it

Due to the introduction of 'Block Exemption rules' which came into force in 2003, the customer now has the choice of where to take their Mercedes car for a service, whist still ensuring quality and service and without jeopardising the dealer warranty.

The terms and conditions state in words that the car has to be serviced by the an authorised service dealer. The block exemption only applied to a factory fresh new car warranty and even thats ending soon ( i believe)

OK then the OP has to decide what route they want to go down?

Either keep the Full MBSH and pay the premium including the warranty?

Or a Specialist and third party warranty?

No answer - will try later - totally fed up at the moment as i dont think they changed the supercharger belt on 2 years and cant check whilst at work

I had a GS430 before this which was like driving cardboard but the dealers were mint!

Mercedes really are rubbish at this.

I know it's a pain, but I would drop into a dealership with your VIN and mileage and they should be able to print out an Electronic Service Sheet (ESS) which is what the mechanics use to tell them what work to do on the car.

The ESS takes account of age and mileage and also shows recall and service update work that is needed.

They didnt change the supercharger belt, it says 2 years or 37k but apperently UK is by discretion - yeah right!

I was told by my MB dealer that they can no longer insist on the car being serviced by them in order to maintain the warranty. It must however be serviced within the specified milage/intervals and by an approved 'MB specialist'. Is there a list of these 'approved specialists' somewhere?

What the MB dealer said is certainly true of the manufacturers warranty supplied with a new car.

A warranty purchased or supplied separately from the purchase of a new car may be subject to other terms and conditions though, as block exemption applies to new cars and subsequent servicing.

what he said :D Its actually written in the terms and conditions that the service work HAS to be carried out at an MB dealer or approved service centre.

Many of us are partial to the dolly-birds.
It's the 400 quid just to walk in the front door that troubles me.

I have sussed why the prices vary so much, if the garage you are calling for a price does not look up your cars history the default to "assuming" the car needs everything doing that is listed without taking into account previous work - so calling up now for a quote will involve a lot more time on the phone explainng all the things that have been done.

Its going into Chester for the service and an MOT plus wheel alignment (see wheel cat) which is crucial as the handling at present is dog rough
