Ok, so this is my very first Mercedes. I've only had the car a week and have managed to trap the seat belt buckle between the seat and speaker pod. The speaker pod was inevitably put through. Took the car to my local MB dealer (not really expecting them to be prepared to fix it under warranty). Guy in the service department was very helpful and booked the car in for next week for a warranty repair.

The car was owned by a lady before me and the chrome interior handle for opening the drivers door is badly scratched where she has caught her ring on it. I asked the dealer if they would mind fitting the part which I had purchased from ebay whilst the door card was off. He said no problem. :bannana:

I must admit after only owning Vauxhalls in the past I've been very impressed by MBs response to this. I've had much more serious warranty issues to deal with through Vauxhall in the past and have been met with comments like "It will cost you £55 for a diagnostic incase the issue isn't covered under warranty". They would only cover things for the first year. After that, if it moved then it wasn't covered. For example I had my rear was wipe pipe break which resulted in water pouring through the cars headlining. Vauxhall's response was that it is a wear and tear part and so I had a battle to get them to do the work under warranty. Car was only 18 months old. Anyway, Vauxhall days are behind me for now and I'm looking forward to a more pleasant ownership experience from MB (fingers crossed).

P.S. I also look forward to being able to watch my car being worked on through the windows in the waiting area. I think that its an excellent idea that MB do this.

Ok, so I've just got back from Mercedes Benz of Sheffield and I have to say that I'm VERY impressed. They've replaced all the parts under warranty and also upgraded a part to do with the turbo linkage which was some part of a possible problem that the system had thrown up.

The guy I dealt with was very professional and treated me with the same respect that other customers driving much more expensive cars were experiencing.

I asked them to look at the check strap on the drivers door whilst they had the door card off as it seemed to be getting quite noisey. The service guy said that they've lubricated it but should I have any further issues to get back to them and they'll replace it under warranty. All seems well with it at the moment.

So whilst we hear a lot of horror stories associated with the main dealers I thought I'd write up my positive experience and say that at this time, I couldn't recommend Mercedes Benz of Sheffield enough.

Nice to see some good news!
