I picked up indian takaway on the way home from work today and the bag leaked a bit over the passanger seat, I now have a bright yellow stain on the black leather, it kind of glows, so far I have tried autoglym leather cleaner, baby wipes, vinegar, interior shampoo, leather cream, soda water and some fabric stain remover pen thing I found under the sink but the stain won't budge.

Any one got any ideas? I was tempted to try diluted bleach but I am concerned this may remove the black as well.

The colourant in the sauce has dyed the leather. the only poption is to re dye it back to black.

Ummm that's a tricky one mate - Indian curry is always a b**** to get out. It's always best not to leave the stain, as removing it is easiest when done straight after the spillage (normally fairy liquid does the job).

Seeing as though it's probably had time to soak in, I'm guessing it's gonna be difficult to get out. Give fairy liquid a go, and rub the stain with a cloth. If that fails, then I think you'll have to try some of those stain removers they advertise on QVC - 'no wet wonder foam' i think it is? My mate has it, and it removes pretty much any stain.

Next time, just remember to place your curry bag in another carrier bag to avoid these nasty leaks.

Sorry I couldn't help you out more!

i had a smilar problem on a cream interior, it was a scuff not a stain, but the solution will be the same; re-dying.....

dont worry tho, as the link below should be of help to you:

OR if u are lucky u could get a new seat base cover from a breakers/or ebay....

Did you have a nice meal though?:D :D

You can try the eraser from JML. They sell this in Boots, WH Smiths, Robert Dyas. The eraser is good and has worked on pretty much everything I've tried.....thankfully, I haven't needed to try on curries:p

If it did that to your seat, what did it do to your stomach ??

Always on the floor for my takeaways - dark carpets are soo much easier to clean.

i get my passenger to hold the takeaway, or it goes on the floor.

twas a loverly meal, I usually get an Indian takeaway about once a week. ln my last car (S-Type) there was a convienient hook next to the glove box handle which was perfect for takeaways. but in the merc if I place it on the floor the bag rolls over so I usually put on the passanger seat with the seat belt round it and the heated seat on to help keep it warm (I can't belive I just admitted to that) then I drive like a maniac so I get home before the food gets to cold, then I put it in the microwave anyway which makes the fast drive home pretty pointless, what a strange character I am. Anyway im afraid mercedes are just not takeaway friendly, the jag was much better for eating food in as well.

I now have the answer on how to remove Indian stains from black leather seats.

First you will need the following:

2 small children one girl aged 9 and boy aged 5, preferrably your own(not certain if the gender/age is important I just tell it how it happened)
1 golden retriever dog (10 months)

Take both children and dog over the country park for some exercise girl in front boy - back, dog in boot in cage.

Go mad over park playing with dog and kids throw balls climb trees and all get muddy and wet.

Get back to car (still all muddy and wet) realise that due to bad planning (and leaving the wife at home) we have not got towels or any clean clothes to change into so have to get back into car as we are.

drive home, get out of car, clean up dog/kids/me, hoover loose mud off of seats.

Next Day:

Go to work as normal, ask friend about removing stain, go out to show him...

Stain has now completely vanished?:bannana:

If only I could put all this in a can and market it...I would make a fortune!:D
