The 2.6 you want is straight six

Don't know if you'll get a V6 one , but there are a few floating round with the straight six 3 litre in them.

Apparently it is quite an easy retrofit.

I think ive caught "dash - itus" - searching the net for seats, wheels, kits and stuff and havent even got a car even nearly sorted

Actually I was looking on the net,but was looking for a 190 for someone though
Thnx for the lift, they`ve only come back around 10 :(

If you visit this forum Mercedes 190e there's a chap (jockmerc) selling a 2.6 sportline in silver. Been trying to sell it for a while so shouldn't be expensive.

The 2.6 is definitely the one to go for. I have two!

He sold it but the car has now popped up on ebay.

Thats rather greedy, can I have one then :)

Ive joined up on the 190 forum and had a browse of the jock thread !

Given the choice I think im more bothered about it being kitted than the engine really but if i could sort a nice kitted 2.6 for cheap money would be great, even better in a manual

Manual 2.6 190's are rare. To find one with a body kit even rarer. To find one manual with a body kit cheap that would be worth owning, would be nigh on impossible.

The cheap ones are usually cheap for a reason, not a good reason either:crazy:

I'm not saying they don't exist. They certainly do but very rarely pop up for sale.

That one had been truly got at. Gray centre console doesn't really go with mushroom seats. The low price it went for showed it wasn't a very nice one to be honest.

I understand, but you can fix little things. The mint ones go for a lot more and you know
Knowing the OP,he will spend money on it anyway

Fair enough but I think buying a better example in the first place is the way to go as it always ends up costing lots more sorting them out in the long run.

As I have found out to my cost in the past:doh:

Don't ever buy a rough 2.3-16 as it will bleed you dry in no time at all:D

When i say cheap, i mean cheap compared to a minter 16 valver, ive got a max to spend of say 1500 quid but obviously would rather spend 500 quid and do a bit of work :) So on the autotrader etc there seems to be plenty of 190's around that the 1500 quid mark but as i havent seen any that are that interesting (havent bothered actually going to view any yet) i dont know whats good value or not really - they do seem quite expensive for what they are though ???? Especially for what mint early C classes go for

My first thoughts on that one were that i didnt like it but then when i thought about it was exactly what i needed really. its what i like doing best changing the little things to make how i like it - say i prefer the black bump strips in silver bumpers etc etc etc - would have suited me down to the ground but was already sold

A well spec'd good condition 190 will often fetch more than an early C Class.

They are still very sought after cars and I have noticed over the last 5 years or so that a new younger breed of owners are cropping up. They have the retro factor working in their favour at the moment and many new young owners are joining the 190 forum than ever.

The price of good and even fairly good 190's seems to be going north at the moment.

It's just a shame I no longer own one:D It seems I jumped ship right at the wrong moment but the valver needed lots of cash spending on it which I don't have at the moment sadly.
