Interesting SL500 with ruched leather interior

Forking love it....... Not many companies can modify MB properly. Needs more BHP tho...............

...and this would be one of them .

The rear spoiler kind of makes the self-cleaning rear light design redundant.

Front bumper is way OTT IMHO. Can't live with the interior though, looks like someone went crazy with the leather.

When modifying, its too easy to lose the plot! The car has had a shed load of money spent on it but its just too in your face. I doubt you could 'live' with the interior on a daily basis.

If i was going to retrim that interior in such a bold colour i wouldn't have gone for all one colour. I would retrim the carpets/door cards/dash in black and just the seats in orange. The other mistake they made was the ruffled leather! The leather in the footwell panels, kick panels, transmision tunnel should be in carpet, something to give it contrast instead of everything in leather.

PS I'm not a fan of ruffled leather! Just looks like the leathers sagged.

Lol, Well i love it, and yes the price is definately serious, come on you would pay 10K for a normal one...

I was going to keep it, but its so low that it wont go down the dip on my driveway! I am thinking of moving house...

oh and its not a LHD conversion, UK model..

p.s The C43 is now sold (about 5 mins ago)

I came close to closing this thread but left it open because it's an interesting car and the banter was fair and chatty.

I'm glad you've taken the comments in good humour!

Also, nice car :)

Everyone has differing opinions, but i do know that people have actually walked into walls when ive driven past in this car...

I LOVE it, and thats not salesman talk, i just wish i had another garage space...
I think when i heard the perfect exhaust tone, i just fell for it...

It's certainly making me bang my head against a brick wall :D.

lol! and another true story, a chap came to buy a ford focus off me yesterday, he was on the floor grovelling to his wife to let him remortgage their house to buy this!

:D I bet she never authorised it :) Hopefully you will find someone that wants an SL that is different from others of a similar year.

Incidentally why did you leave the boot a different colour?

Regards,
John

no she did not, they had to stick with the focus, which is good as a ford was not really brightening my showroom up any...

i didnt do anything, the conversion was done a while back, no idea why they didnt do the boot, i think i prefer it standard anyway... they did do everything else though including the hard top

I think a more important question is "why would you re-trim the boot at all?" It will get beaten up with luggage or shopping and is hardly ever going to be seen!

A car like that is just waiting for the installation of some "bass cannons" in the boot anyway!

Or some plastic sheeting so the blood from the body doesn't leak into the carpet ..... ;)

A la Sopranos .....

Most probably due to the fact that the rear 3/4 internal panels are plastic with the carpet glued on. Its virtually impossible to remove all the old carpet without damaging the plastic. It can be done but isn't worth it in terms of retrim costs.

I'm having the same prob in the SEC. The boot has been recarpeted apart from the 2 rear 3/4 panels. I'll just buy these new from MB and have them dyed to jet black (MB carpets are anthracite).

Because it looks odd in cream, espeacially when the bodywork is black and the interior is orange. Would be best in black.

"bass cannons" would still be more appropriate ;)
