I finally managed to get the 16" wheels I've been wanting for a good while now.

They were sold as a set of four i.e., no spare.

Until I can get hold of another 7.5J 16 ET41 rim, will I be able to use one of the old 15" wheels I've got - will the slight difference in rolling radius cause any problems with ABS, Speedo, cruise control, handling etc.?

(215/55/16 Vs 205/60/15)

If the tyre isn't identical (make, tread pattern, wear, pressure, etc.) to the one on the other side then handling will be affected to some extent. But I'm sure it will be OK as a spare for use in emergencies; think of the skinny 'space savers' that many cars carry as standard.

Use the 15" as a spare but not every day use! Shouldn't cause too much problem I wouldn't have thought! :)

Yup I have a 16" (8 hole) spare in my R129, good enough for emergencies.

If you think about it, quite a few cars run different rims at the back ... then you've only got a 50% chance of the spare being the 'right' size (unless you carry two different ones :D).

What I wasn't sure about was the rolling radii of those spacesavers.

For example, with my 205/60/15s the RR is 313.5mm whereas with the 215/55/16s it's 321.45mm which is a 2.54% difference.

I was always rubbish at physics and applied maths...:)

2.5% is quite a small difference, you could probably get that with two tyres of the same size if one was well worn and the other an unused spare. For emergency use I'm sure it would be fine.
