Help. When I have the interior lighting set so that it comes on when you open the door, I've noticed that if I lean on the door arm rest or if the car is turining the interior light comes on!!!
Any advice would be welcome.
I've now just switched off the interior lighting

sounds like either the switch is out of allignment or the door is out of allignment.

bodge to stop this happening would be to look for the small black switch with a small black pin sticking out. When this is pressed in , the lights are off. When the door opens this releases the pin and the lights come on.

To bodge it without messing about too much , use some sort of thick sticky pad on the door just to keep it slightly more depressed.

Would this be on the door or the mainframe of the car and would this also explain why it comes on when the car is turining?

Many thanks

This sounds very like the door needs setting in the hole sort of thing.

Item 40 in the diagram below.

The diagram is really useful. Thanks for that. So how easy would it be to fix it?

To bodge it so the plunger is a bit longer is easy. To make the door fit properly might be a bit more difficult.

It's from this site. Alternatively, you can subscribe to a legitimate (and English ;)) version here.

Depends what's wrong. First you need to determine whether it's the switch that's duff or the door that's out of alignment. Compare the switch (mounting, position, plunger protrusion and operation) to the one on the other side. Look along the outside lines of the car to see if the door is fitted properly.

 ok so I am too sure what is going on. Having seen the diagram and item 40, I rushed to my car and check it only to find that it is not there...I think. I am not sure if item 40 is just a stand alone unit on the door frame or what. Please help

What model of car? Or am I missing something?
