Hi

I replaced my daughters brake master cylinder on her Kia Picanto about 3 months ago to cure a brake binding problem (common fault it seems). All was fine until 2 weeks ago when she suffered brake failure (pedal travel to the floor) once.
I checked system for leaks ( no loss of fluid), hoses etc and could find no faults. I tested the car many times on the road for a week with no problems found and finely gave it back to her.
It then occurred again two days ago, the cylinder was purchased from Euro car parts who I contacted, to be told send it back and a refund will only be given if they find a problem with it (fair enough)
The problem I see is it is so intermittent, it will test ok and so I will be left out of pocket.
So anyone think it can be anything else?

If this is in wrong section please move

I'm no brake expert but, it sounds like you didn't bleed the brakes & there is air in the system. I may be wrong though.

Hey

Thanks for reply.
Took the opportunity to replace fluid and brakes bled using old school method (pedal down and nipple tightened), if it were air would expect pedal to feel "spongy" which it is not. Cant think of anything else but master cylinder but open to suggestions.

They wont find a problem but they may just exchange it for you if you ask just so it rules it out..

I also think the issue is likely to be elsewhere... Have you checked all hoses etc?

Hmm... If that's the last thing that was changed, then there is a great possibility that it is the cylinder.

As previously mentioned, I'm no expert, so that's past my knowledge are - sure someone will be here with advice shortly.

Thanks for that

Have checked all flexible hoses for bulging while pedal pushed hard and can find no problem, they all appear firm to touch.

I am no expert either , but do some brake systems with abs require more than just pumping the system with the foot pedal to bleed the system ?

Hi!

Sorry to hear that,

Can you drop me a PM with your order number so i can check if there is something else we can do with the team.

Typically an exchange will take 4-6 weeks (for testing etc) however as a forum meber im sure we can do something special :)

Hi Pat

Thanks for response, not high enough post count to pm.
Customer Ref ECPEB331800

Have purchased replacement from your company and will fit today to send back faulty part.

Once again thanks for response

Hi Gary,

If you've already purchased the new one, than a warranty exchange is no good (you'll just get a replacement)

I've put notes on the system, to process a refund, (not an exchange) - when you return the part, please include a note stating you've spoken to me and you would like a refund as you've repurchased it already!

Hope that helps!

Pat

Hi Pat

Thanks very much for that will do as you say, have installed replacement and all seems well, fingers crossed.

Regards Gary
