Intermittent heating controls

Hello all and happy new year to everyone. We've recently purchased another Merc to the family to add to the W168 and W124, a W202 C200 R Rej as a run around. However, the heating controls inside the car are intermittent. When I put the dial to "1" the heating blows as if it's on "5" but will then go up and down as you drive the car. Same situation if I put it on "5". Any ideas?

could the switch be damp as if so it could be tracking and as you move the switch up n down its clearing (just an idea)

sometimes my w202 does that but only for a second or two then starts turning at what you have set it on. T.

Blower motor bushes think i paid £4 for some new ones of ebay and fitted them. mine went intermittent for a while then stopped altogether.

Would occasionally kick back in if i gave under the dash a whack in the passenger footwell. All fine now though! :)

And if its still having grief try a new final stage resistor, looks like a hedgehog, they can be got cheaply of ebay aswell, and easy to fit, just a few screws and you take it off to get the blower motor out anyway!

unlike an E46 bmw! Think laid on your back in the drivers footwell with your knees, touching the roof, your head jammed UNDER the brake and clutch pedal and every conceivable joint from the shoulder down dislocated to gain access......would help if you had wonky eyes to actually see what your doing down there too!
