Hello there fellow MB owners! for a couple of months now i have been experiencing an intermittent oil light coming up on my dash! it comes on for 2-5 mins (approx) and then goes out again. It usually happens nearly every time i drive it or once on the day i drive it. the oil level is fine and the car was serviced in march and only done approx 4000 miles since. Shes a W202 on a 2000 reg with 54k on the clock! always serviced, MOT'd etc by MB of milton keynes so kept in top shape.... any ideas???

well its best to get it checked out... im not sure if there is an oil pump on your engine but if there is it could be failing...
Or it could just be a bad sensor and need replacing.

cheers mate! shes goin to mk next friday for her MOT so i guess il gett them to check it out whilst they have the car. i hope its not the pump cos that could b fairly expensive :(.....

youve lost me?

Ive never heard of an MB oil pump failing, Audi etc are always having issues with them.

Which light is coming on? the level light (yellow) or the red light (oil pressure).

oh crickey now ur asking... im not too sure tbh matey!? didnt realise there was 2! it has a picture of an oil lamp on on it. i havent driven the car since the weekend so cant rele remember!

i drove the car yesterday and looked at the warning light when it lit up for approx 2 minutes yesterday... it seemed it was backlit green with the outlines of the symbol orange/red..... mean anything to you guys???

As Jay said, highly, highly unusual for an oil pump to fail on an MB. Almost unheard of.
