Intermittent W211 electrical issues

Hi All,
I've recently purchased a 2003 W211 270 CDi estate with 188k on the clock with full dealer history in "not bad" nick but it's got a fair few electrical gremlins that I didn't know if anyone could point me in the right direction with?

-It tells me the tailgate is open - when it's not.
-On a more intermitten basis, it tells me a brake light is out - when none are, having checked several times, also the "display is faulty and to visit workshop" while the cluster lighting flickers between day and night (along with the Sat Nav screen) and also occasional SRS light is on and then off again
-Front fogs take an AGE to go out after locking - with the delay set to 0 seconds
-Interior lights flash on an off constantly after locking and sometimes the indicators will blink constantly after locking, looking like the hazards have been left on
-When interior lamps go out, the rear load lights stay on, as does the centre interior lamp, but not the one above the gearshift.

I assume this is going to be a multidue of issues, rather than one common failure point?

Does anyone have any advice they could kindly offer me please?

Hi and welcome.

Firstly make sure you have a good battery. this is imperative as a slight volt drop can cause all sorts of issues as a lot of these circuits are voltage dependant.

Once you are sure of your battery then you can consider some of the advise you will get from more experienced owners/techs on this site.
