Intermittent wiper setting not working

The intermittent setting on my W202 wiper is faulty.

When you put it onto the intermittent setting, the wiper does a single swipe, and then stops - it doesn't go into the intermittent mode.

The normal setting is OK though and works continuously.

Does anyone have any ideas on what's causing this?

Cheers

Cheers. Do you know if this is something that's easily fixed?

If the intermittent setting works like mine, the frequency of swipes is determined by the sensor on the windshield. If no rain is falling it will only do one swipe.

Definately no rain sensor? Black box under mirror on the windscreen?

A w202 with a rain sensor, on the first stalk position where intermitent would noramlly be, it will do a single sweep then wait for rain!

I took it to be no rain sensor as the poster had said intermittant function, not Automatic.
Also I was under the impression that if the rain sensor failed the wipers revert to timed intermittant mode.

Might be wrong though..

First post that I have seen on a 202 rain sensor, even the first ones had that option, as said they do one sweep and stop if no rain

Thanks folks - I didn't realise there was a rain sensor - only had the car a week.

There's not one on my CLK - it's an intermittent wiper on that, so just assumed it was the same on the 202.

cheers
