Hi Guys,

I have an iPhone 5 and want to synch it to use in my W219 (CLS55). I know it will not connect via bluetooth and as I only have the Nokia cradle installed in the centre armrest I know that this is of no use. Is there a software upgrade required for COMAND to allow bluetooth recognition of the iPhone 5? Can I just purchase a Viseeo MB-2 or similar and if so will this be a direct replacement for the existing cradle that is installed? Is the iPhone 5 compatible with the Viseeo? If not then what are my options?

I have been given a Parrot CK3100 and Bury Universal cradle kit to have installed via my work, is it worth going down this route instead?

Advice appreciated,

Jules.

If you look at the cradle in the armrest, if it has a curly cable connecting it to the tray, then you need this:

ViseeO MBU-3000 Bluetooth for Mercedes Benz (enhanced MBU-1000) | Mercedes Bluetooth & Phone | Comand Online Ltd

It just goes in the cradle - car thinks it has a Nokia and it bluetooths to the phone.

If it is a fixed cradle, it can be slid off by pressing the button in the top left corner and sliding backward - you then need a UHI cradle, and the MB-2 works (but is discontinued) and the MB-4

MB-4: Viseeo MB-4 Bluetooth interface for UHI & MHI equipped cars. | Mercedes Bluetooth & Phone | Comand Online Ltd
Refurb MB-2: Returned MB-2, full warranty & latest software. | Mercedes Bluetooth & Phone | Comand Online Ltd

Hi Jules,

Does your comand not recognise the iphone5 when you pair them?? a software upgrade is available to recognise ios6 iphones.

Are Show Notifications and Sync Contacts switched on in settings??

A lightning adaptor is available for the cubby box cable to hard connect to car, available from most phone shops.

Its a W219 (CLS) and as its a 55, its pre 2009, so its NTG1 - so Bluetooth phone functions are not built into the head unit like it is on NTG4.5 system that the newer cars have

Hi Richard, thanks for the reply, I think it has the curly cable attached as the current Nokia cradle moves around. I will check.

Out of curiousity does the Bury system once installed allow synchronisation to the COMAND screen? Or will it only work with the Parrott?

Thanks
Jules.

Hi Jules
The only thing that will get contacts on the COMAND system is the integrated phone system which you have - so do buy the adapter - no stick on displays and proper integration with COMAND and the instrument cluster and the steeirng wheel buttons

Cheers

MBU1000 will work. MBU3000 is just newer, faster and better and supports things like Siri.

Thanks Richard, it's just that there is an MBU1000 in the classifieds still boxed for £70 which seems pretty reasonable. So if it works and gives same functionality via COMAND then worth a punt...?

Yup, the only issue is that when Apple next mess up the bluetooth there is no chance of a software update for the MBU1000, wheres there will be for a MBU3000 !

But it still works with the IPhone 5? Why would the Bluetooth change on this phone or are you referring to future IPhones?

Because every software release that Apple make for the iPhone they tweak the bluetooth to add functionality, and every few releases it becomes incompatible with lots of cars / car-kits. Then they fix it 1 or 2 releases later and by that time the Bluetooth manufacturers have fixed it too. Tends to happen at new release of the IOS (i.e major versions) rather than minor updates but hasn't happened for a couple of years ..
What normally happens is the phone book no longer works ..

Iphone 5 not recognised in 2012 Eclass

Guys, totally new here, I have a 2012 Eclass - bluetooth connectivity doesnt work for music, only calls. My iPhone 4 worked great, upgraded to an iPhone 5 and used the adapter you get from apple on my Mercedes Cable in the car and the phone isnt recognised.

Any suggestions?
