E211 E Class
Hi everyone, I have just joined having ditched my Audi A6 when its multitronic gearbox became terminally ill, replacing it with a 2007 W211 E Class Executive. Its a much better car and Im very pleased with it. I do have a problem with the stereo however.

My Audi had a Connects2 unit feeding the output of the bottom connector of my IPOD Classic into its Concert head unit, which worked very well. I am trying to arrange something similar in my Merc which has the Audio 20 Cd head unit and 6 disc changer underneath. It has the MOST system with factory phone connection to the armrest.

My ICE expert has attempted to connect the Dension Gateway Lite but it wont work because the head unit does not recognise the changer. When the CDC button is pressed it displays the message " NO CDC" It has been tested on the STAR system which does not recognise its existence. I understand that this suggests an electrical fault. Does anyone have any suggestions? Obviously I dont want tospend money fault finding and fixing a changer fault when it will be made redundant by the IPOD.

I am also considering a Comand mCar unit which is pricey but will feed digital signals to the DAC in the head unit so sound quality will be optimised. The chaps at Comand say that the CDC fault should not prevent its installation.

All helpful suggestions would be very much appreciated, thanks.

Ipod kit in the W211 only works with Comand as only Comand has aux input connection needed for the kit, Audio 20 does not.

mCar is one option, another is to upgrade to the NTG2.5 based Audio 20 unit fitted to MY09> cars. It has an aux input and supports the Mercedes ipod kit and Mercedes Media Interface. Or you could even fit the Comand NTG2.5 if you wanted naviagtion as well.

thanks for your comments. I dont have the Aux input, that would make life a lot easier for sure. The Mercedes IPOD kit only works with the factory fit Comand head unit, which I dont have.

Has anyone tried the mCar unit?

Any idea why my CDC is not recognised?

Can't believe I forgot that - having just bought a 211 specifically with COMAND for that very reason...

Could be a faulty changer, could be a problem on the MOST bus or could be a damaged cable.

Removing/Installing COMAND & Audio on E & CLS have a removal guide if you want to check the connections.

Thanks for your comments chaps.

Can anyone suggest a specialist in the North West that knows what they are doing who can check it out for me? Thanks

Hi, i installed the mb ipod kit to my audio 20 in my w203 2004 model. Works a treat you just need to press and hold the cdc button to select aux.

hope that helps!

I have the NO CDC come up on the display as well but I have an iPod connector so its ok.

Well it was. Now I only have no sound coming through on the right side. It just suddenly stopped. Any ideas as to what it might be? The cables are not under stress and there is no crackling to suggest a loose connection.

Its really disappointing as I love my music, this is the first time I have had an ipod connector and its lasted 1 month.
