iPod glovebox aux input

Nope. Thats the cable set for the media interface.

What car do you want ipod in?

Hi Alfie - I want to play my iPhone's iPod music through the car speakers (2003 CL). Phone works fine on bluetooth as a phone.

Cheers

Jonny

Ian, I have an Alpine Headunit Alpine CDE-9871R (17months old, only used for 4 months) with a full Ipod kit, for sale for not lot more than that cable costs.

Allows track selection, playlist selections and track names displayed from the headunit unlike simple AUX inputs. PM me if intrested.

(Unless you have COMAND)

Your CLK is from 2000, so there should be a plain 3.5mm stereo jack socket in the glovebox (assuming COMAND was factory fitted). So go to local dixons/etc and ask for a "3.5mm to 3.5mm lead for connecting an iPod to <something>"

- on some ipods (the Touch and the iPhone (may just be the 1st generation of those)) the socket is slightly recessed, so thats why you need one specifically for iPod. Then on COMAND, select SYS then AUX to get the sound !

That worked in my 2003 S500.

The only issue is that the volume is really low in comparison to the other inputs. Maybe an inline booster amp might be the simple answer .....

I just put the ipod on shuffle and let it decide what I was listening to next - no control of the ipod at all this way.

Thanks for all the info folks. Problem is there isn't a 3.5mm socket in the glovebox. There is something but it ain't a 3.5mm socket.

Any chance of a pic?

If it is on the side nearest to the centre console then you might be surprised to find that it is an 3.5mm socket - try a pair of heaphones in the socket to check the fitting.

It's not on the console side....It's a chrome thingy....I'll have another look at it later.

my AUX jack is on the passenger side of the glove box

Nice one

How do you find the ipod volume through the aux in comparison to the other inputs, say CD ?

I'll let you know once I've loaded some CD's into the stack...I'm guessing both should be reasonably ok as it's a Bose system.

2002 W211 3.5 mm aux in for iphone

Hi all. I have a 2002 w211 with Audio 50 and I would like to install an aux cable to connect an IPhone. I've found solutions for Audio 20 and other models but not audio 50. I did found a cable with the following description "Aux-input with 3,5mm mini-jack connector for the Mercedes- Benz Audio 20/30, Audio 50 APS, Comand APS (all), NTG2 OEM units" but couldn't find were to buy or install instructions. Thanks in advance.
