iPOD mod for SLK .... could be universal

Seems simple enough - but this will only work with the analogue Bose system not the fibre optic bose amp - which has no speaker conenctions from the head unit. !

what happens if you leave the head unit on as well (by mistake perhaps) do you get 2 sound sources competing against each other at the same time? will anything break?

I think it overcomes having two sources. It just doesnt overcome D2B.

Does anyone know of an interface that is available now for connecting an ipod or Minidisc player to the Audio 30 APS head unit.

I dont have an ipod as of yet...(Still deciding which one to get) so want to use a md player mean while.

it seems there are several fm devices around that are quite good that send the output from ipod to an unused fm frequency on any head unit.

But are these devices legal in the UK?

dont get the ipod, get the sony Hd1 thing... im just waiting for the price to drop a little...

Thats nice, hadnt seen that before.

The only things that would bug me are that there does not appear to be a remote and the fact that the headphone plug sticks out of the side, annoying if you are carrying the unit in your pocket. A problem that was dealt with years ago on walkmans by fitting a right-angled plug...dunno why they have gone backwards here.

Technically no, but as the range is about 10 feet you are unlikely to cause a problem. I've read conflicting reviews about the sound quality. Bear in mind that many MBs have the antenna in the rear of the car which may make the quality problem worse.

I like the idea of ditching the CD changer in favour of an iPod interface, will definitely be on my Xmas list.

Tan - get the mini. Luvley!! I can very nearly lose mine under a business card. I have only 530 tracks on mine, so I'm using about half of it's capacity. They are my 530 "top tracks" - I don't carry round stuff I don't listen to. It probably is possible to fill up a 40Gb iPod, but I reckon only by dumping whole albums on there, and not listening to the 'chaff'.

I would consider a full-size iPod if I took thousands of photos and needed extra temporary storage, but I get by OK and I took 700-odd 4mp pics on holiday this year.

The iPOD FM adaptor is illegal to use in the UK and throughout the EU as it is not and could never be CE marked. Technically the DTI can confisciate the device and anything attached to it (e.g. iPOD and CAR) - the likelyhood of this happening is however slim for reasons given before.

That Dension ICE link looks like the best solution - has anyone bought one yet?

I've heard the FM modulator is ok as long as you don't travel far, travel any distance and you will hit interfance as the frequency you set at home is most likely in use in other areas.

A friend of mine discovered that with his iPod/iTrip combo, works find around manchester but on a trip to london it broke up a couple of times due to interference. He said he would buy the official Sony adapter for his headunit so it could be directly connected but it's about £150! :(

Went into Sony today to see the unit in the flesh... its really nice.
Regards the remote issues they are releasing one in a couple of weeks with the right angled plug.

So guna wait a month or so then start searching for a good deal.
