Ipod solution - Late W211

My brother has a late W211 with Audio 20. He has Bluetooth, but there is no dongle under the armrest like on the earlier cars.

Any ideas what his options are for ipod or even better Ad2P connectivity?

As far as I am aware its just the audio jack socket in the glovebox.

Apparently the sound is very low. I think this is a common complaint...

Only if the car is a my2009 W211 with audio-20 will it have an auxiliary input.

If it is a model year 2009 w211 then the Mercedes ipod kit will work well for you and with a tune2air dongle will give you Bluetooth A2DP from the ipod/iphone.

If its a pre my2009 car then you will need a more expensive solution such as the mCar UMI.

You have 3 options...

1)Hard wire a dedicated iPod interface to Audio 20. - need full spec of car & year. ( approx £150-£200 fitted )
2)have an digital fm iPod/iphone interface - hard wired through antenna & displays track names through RDS radio . (£140-£170)
3)have another Bluetooth interface that is a music car kit aswell ie... Parrot Music car kits like MKI9200/9100/9000 or Motorola TK30. (Approx 230-£270 fitted)

Personally I would change the head unit for a upgraded aftermarket double din stereo but that option is the most expensive tbh. (Approx £400+>)

Check out the ACME F300 - that's what I use.. It was £35 and works perfectly well..

It is a 2008 car, which I suspect means that I need the build date....

Jules I suspect he'd prefer something more integrated than that, but it looks perfect for our BMW while I work out what to do long term with it...

LOL, I bought mine just to give me something while I find a better solution but now I'm thinking of just wiring it to a 12V switched source and mounting it on the dash near the steering wheel.. It works rather well and the USB output charges the phone and my Sat Nav simultaneously. It's better than I expected..
