Is it worth getting ceramic coating from the dealership?

Gardx was it stage 1 and 2 or cx2 which is ceramic coating
I am not sure, does it matter? the lesser the better they left residue marks at the top edge of the bonnet that i never saw and the front lower part of the grill surround that i spotted last night. Had to use Chemical guys P4 to get rid of them! The first proper wash will tell.

Thanks Tony.

Hi whoever applied it didn’t have a clue what they were doing as that would not have happened if it was applied properly there is also a difference between a stage 1 and 2 and cx2 as the first one is more of a paint sealant and the cx2 is a ceramic coating

I never have any success with any paint systems applied by car dealers or by specialist application.
However , I went to my local Morrisons and used their hand service.

Unbelievable good and all for £10 plus tip.Went home and applied water all over car , dried it down and then applied a liquid polish.
I don’t think many on here would use a Morrisons hand wash on their cars.

My CLS 63 SB had had MB Stargard applied at some point, presumably by a dealer, and very good it was too; the dirt just fell off when it was washed. I'm a long way short of the terminal OCD some in this forum suffer from, though, so they might not be impressed...

I’ve not heard of dealerships doing it , my first thought was that if preparation is the key to a good ceramic coat then I doubt they would be any good .
I would speak to a local detailer after establishing exactly what MB are planning .
Can the dealer show you other cars they have done ?

Exactly this. Lot's of dealerships try to upsell extras and make sound like you really need it. Ask to speak to the guy who's doing the work and see what he's using and the steps etc. For all you know, they could be using a 'ceramic' branded bottle of car wash or a 'ceramic' spray detailer that takes 30 minutes to apply.

An easy way to figure this out is
1) To ask the sale agent 'how many cars get done every week'
2) Ask the detailer how many detailers they have at the dealership.

It's at least a full day's work to wash, clay buff and coat so if it's more than 5 per week per detailer.....
