Is there a section for aircon issues? I have one.

Apologies if this is in the wrong bit.

I had the condenser replaced last week (1994 S320), bloke did what he was paid to do, replaced condensor, re-gassed and cleaned the system, great. Only problem is that the pump will only engage briefly when the car is first started, then it will disengage and do nothing. When the clutch pump is engaged, it's freezing cold.

Is this a common fault? easily fixable?

What weight of gas did he put in the system? Was it correct? If the system kicks in it has pressure, so probably no leak, and the LP switch works. The system kicks out again so the HP switch works. But why does it kick back out again?

I wonder if the air-gap on the compressor clutch is correct

Exactly, why indeed? I'd be happy to fit a manual bypass switch if it was possible. The aircon guy said that there were 2 sensors, one inside up in the ceiling switch console, and one at the front of the bumper. Maybe one of those is messed up. Hope I can get this sorted, if we have a summer, a black car with black interior is going to get pretty toasty in no time.

Just started it from cold, it's about 20c outside, 28c inside the car, pump kicked in straight away and chilled the inside for about 5 mins, then the pump clutch disengaged and the fans kicked in momentarily, then nothing for 10 mins, then the pump kicked in briefly again, then checked out till I turned the engine off.

Aircon bloke says that this shows the system is working, the pressure switches are working and that it all points to sensor or ECU issues.

Any thoughts?
