Is there any way to get rid of exhaust smoke ?

The smoke coming out of my exhaust is horrendous.
If I rev it anything above 3000 rpm it's like a space shuttle has just been launched. I use Millers Diesel Plus - is that causing it ?
AN example is trying to keep up with a BMW 320d and there is no smoke at all coming out of the BMW but I get plumes of it coming out trying to keep up with him !!!

If you've been driving sedately, and floor it, you'll get lots of soot. Drive it like a loon all the time, and you'll get hardly any.

Has your fuel consumption increased of late, or power dropped?

Ha! Another one fallen into the Millers' trap! I used to use Millers all the time and complained many times about the excess smoking at my dealer, to no avail. On a trip to Europe last year, I stopped using Millers and gave the car a fast blast down the autobahn - smoking almost disappeared and has remained so to this day.
