Is there no outside temperature gauge on ML 420?

I got my new ML 420 CDi yesterday. Beautiful car.

Spent the evening reading the manual. Tried to figure out how to bring up the outside temperature on the computer read-out on the dash and it appears it can't be done in the UK! Incredible. I spend £57k on a new car and it hasn't got a basic thing such as outside temperature reading. Even a £10k car will have this basic feature.

It appears that the computer can show either km/ph or outside temperature. However in the UK because the main speedo is showing mph the option to show temperature is not available as the dash permanently shows km/ph. Is this stupid or what?

Somebody please tell me this is not so. Is there a work-around for this?

Amazing how the little things really annoy. I've now got a whazzing new car that is beautiful in many respects but I'm feeling swizzed by the idiocy of not providing an oustide temperature gauge.

There certainly is a workaround. You need to come to the June GTG where we can enable the feature for you

Bizarre, I can show outside temp. on the cluster of my 2007 Vito (which also has kph in the digital display because the analogue speedo is MPH only).

On my ML320 you can see the outside temp by cycling through the screens until you have the mileage displayed, then up 2 sub-menus.

Bingo! This works. Well done.

It seems to be a temporary way to view the temperature i.e. if I switch off the engine it doesn't come up on start up. I need to cycle through the menus again.

I'd still like to get the system modified to show me Temperature permanently instead of km/ph.

you could choose if you wanted speed or temp to be displayed on the older cars.. as Alfie says im sure a trip to the dealer could have that sorted in seconds..
