My 18" amg mb's came to day, im upgrading from 17" x 7.5j amg mb's to 18" x 9j rear and 18" x 8j front, but its all gone bad.

The rears look really nice with 275/35/18 tyres, fill the arches and look nice and dishy, there is a very slight rub when hitting a bump so was thinking of changing the tyres on rear to a 265/35/18 or 255/30/18 what would you recommend?

The fronts are all wrong, they look like great dane bullbags on a chihuahua, there 245/40/18, they are trying to eat my front wings, and stick out from the wings like air brakes on the space shuttle, so was thinking maybe change for 235/30/18 or 225/35/18 again what would you recommend?

thanks all for your help with this, as im a little disappointed and upset that my cars look has changed for the worst, wish i had stuck with the 17".

225's are the correct size tyre but they may look a bit weird on a 8J.

I think the offset is all wrong. What wheels are they?

There amg monoblock 2.
The rears sit flush and look great, just need the next size tyre down i think.
but the fronts are bad, i can get a pick uploaded tomorrow, i dont know what the et are but will get under car tomoz and see if i can see without taking the wheel off.
I would say the rears are et35 9j

Genuine AMG's? There are many many copies around.

You will have a different circumference if you do this and it will be the wrong size for the car, what was the original tyre size? you should aim to have the same circumference with the bigger wheel, either by reducing the width or wall size of the tyre fitted to the new wheel. did you look here for the correct sizes?
If it is just the edges of your arches that are being rubbed you might consider getting them widened to accommodate the new wheels

If the wheels are sticking out towards the arch at the front then it is the wrong offset.

Hi,
I don,t mean to insult your intelligence but it sounds like you could have the front wheels on the rear and rear wheels on the front, or your set could be a set of four rear wheels.

If they are genuine staggered 18" monoblocks the fronts should be : 8Jx18 H2 ET31 and the rears : 9Jx18 H2 ET35.

Otherwise they are not genuine amg's.

2254018 front
2553518 rear
everything points to them being genuine, and taken off an R129 going by the tyre sizes

On the S210 those wheels are fitted with
235/40ZR18 front
265/35ZR18 rear
That gets them the same diameter.
Anything bigger will rub the arches - on an S210 built for these wheels.
On the front that can be especially dangerous.

ok this is the car.

1997 R c180.

These are the wheels, i got all the info from them this morning.

Front, code HWA 129 401 0102. 8j - 18. H2. ET 31 (not good) tyre 245/40/18.
Rear, code HWA 210 401 0202. 9j - 18. H2. ET 35 (Good) tyre 275/35/18.

as you can see im a an idiot, this is my first ever merc and i have no experience with them at all, give me a jap motor and im all over it.

i had amg 17" et 35 all around, l loved them, i just wanted a bit of dish, and a bit of dish is what i got lol.

so where to go now? do i sell the fronts and look for et35 18" 8j to replace?

i take it the 18" monoblock only come in 8j or higher?

what advice would you give? (i should have just stuck with me 17" and been happy)

thanks all

they dont list an 18" x 8 et35 there all et31

it looks like im gana have to keep my 18 et31 and really shrink the rubber like 225/35/18 or 225/30/18

Front, code HWA 129 401 0102. 8j - 18. H2. ET 31 (not good) tyre 245/40/18.
Rear, code HWA 210 401 0202. 9j - 18. H2. ET 35 (Good) tyre 275/35/18.

Correct fitments and tyre sizes listed for your car in the size wheels you have:

FRONT..........................REAR
18x8 ET31 225/40R18 18x9 ET35 255/35R18 AMG
18x8 ET35 225/40R18 18x9 ET28/35 255/35R18 Carlsson

Alloy size, width and ET is fine it is the tyres that are the issue.

If you wanted a bit of dish, you could've gone for 17" 8.5J mb2's all around.

That's rear setup on W202 AMG's, but you could put them all around maybe?

Chris is correct with the sizes, anything else will rub! i found pirrellis or goodyears the best on the front, any make on the rear (on my c36)

2254018 front
2553518 rear

the w210 tyres will not fit your car
