I've had my Mercedes for five weeks and...

So you've now run out of screenwash? Ah no, there is a warning for that...... :D

Welcome to the joys of owning a three pointed star

Have you noticed how quick MB screenwash low warning light comes on?

It's really annoying on my W220 as no other screens are visible until you put screenwash in.

I venture under the bonnet perhaps 2-3 times a year, to fill the screen wash bottle. Unlike lewyboy I have found the bottle capacity very generous (and I have a little icon that lights when more is required :) )

I agree that the tank is a decent size, my gripe is with the warning light which comes on way too early and prevents any other readouts from being visible util you refill.

This includes comand directions in the cluster

You just have to acknowledge the warning by pressing a steering wheel button, then it goes back to the normal display!

That's what used to happen with the C class but on the S it stays there.

Maybe it's broken.

This works on Both My E Class W211 and CLK W208 so I wouldnt have thought it should be any different for you!

I'm not an owner who wants to strip the engine down every fortnight just to polish the con-rods ...
BUT ...
A quick check under the bonnet every two or three weeks really is a wise strategy.

Agreed but after a couple of times of just staring at a huge engine cowl I thought "Whats the point?"

I agree - even if there's no drip drip on the garage floor you should always check for mice nibbling away at things (if your car stays idle for a week or so like mine does).

And maybe clean the dust away.. polish the manifold...

Idle??

Mine doesn't stay still long enough even for dust to settle :D

Now Ive fixed my warning lamp by fixing a new sensor, it comes on when you are down to the last 2 litres (out of a 6 litre tank). Which does seem a little early to me.

I lift the bonnet at least once a month!

I like to look at the engine... and if I'm washing the car, give the engine a quick clear with some enginer detailer...

;)

I have somewhat elderly merc - W210 E280 (1998) and I never used to look under the bonnet until one day the oil level warning came on. Immediately stopped and topped up. Now check oil level once a fortnight or so and finfI have to fill a bit of oil every 2-3000 miles. Just passed 150,000 miles yesterday and she feels as if she could do that again and then some!

I find it hard to judge how much washer fluid to put in as the reservoir is obscured from site in a 211, you get a feeder into a reservoir and thats all you see :(

That's all one sees on the 203, just the tip of the filler neck.

I just wait until the refill message pops up on the dash then empty a bottle of MB screen wash into the reservior and fill to the top with water :)

I havnt even got a dipstick to wipe.....................
Have you got an engine?
