Thanks guys, the pictures are really useful as I can see what I'm up against. Perhaps I'll do another centimetre of drilling to see if it will finally spring it.
That's a very kind offer and I may well be able to bring it down to Croydon (I'm in Rayleigh, Essex) as I have been able to charge the battery several times thanks to Decs assistance with the jump point. Let me have another bash with the drill and I'll see how I get on. Cheers - Keith

Guys - I'm in!!! The S320 limo model has two locks, which is why drilling out one will not solve the problem. It's for extra security. So I had to drill the lock very wide (about 25mm) and then get a pair of pliers in and grab the arm that extends to the second lock. It was this arm that had become disconnected hence why the boot wouldn't open. I've replaced it with a standard lock from a saloon which works fine and removes the risk of it happening again. Hope this is of help to someone and thanks again for all the suggestions. Keith
