Start by reversing whatever it is that you changed. Sounds like you pumped 12V into the wrong place.

does the car still start and all alarm and window functions still work?

i didn't change anything on the comand system just tried to attach the CD changer. followed the HOWTO to the word. unless their is something wrong with the CD wires but checked all my wiring and its all in the right palce, as the black wire that goes to c1 connector is -ve and brown is +ve with the power up cable being blue. that is the only thing that i added to the comand

yes all fine. i checked the comand unit and it looks like something is burnt behind where the power and speaker cables go into the system

Thats a good thing, the last time I plugged in something wrong behind the dash I blew the EIS and it cost £700.

Do you mind posting the wiring pin information because there is no apparent reason for this problem.

What did you attach the blue wire to ? Sounds like you fed it into the antenna system.

BTW .... adding a CD changer generally qualifies as CHANGING SOMETHING.

Well, most of the Mercedes is wired with brown being negative. But it doesnt sound like you are using the MB supplied loom.
The C1 connector supplies power to the CD changer, and sounds like you've frazled something between the C1 power connector and the Comand's A connector. If you did reverse the power you've probably totalled the CD changer also - sorry.

Also, the 3rd (in your case blue) cable is not "power-up". Its D2B wakeup and needs joining to the other D2B wakeup (blue/black) leads. (or if you don;t have anything else fibre optic, connecting to the appropriate pin on C2 connector). My www.mercupgrades.com COMAND faq has the pinouts.

Black was used in some of the earlier models. Have also seen white on black, pink and purple. Some of the USA builds have nice colour variations.

I attched the blue wire to Pin 10 in the C2 connecter

I think that may be the problem then. the loom is mercedes one. i thought that brown was +ve and the black -VE.

the blue/black cable has been connected to PIN10 in th C2 connecter

The HOW TO information is ALWAYS car specific and not generic.

Not blaming the HOWTO infromation. The problems was that the wire i have for the CD changer did not come with a C1 connecter therefore i had to connect the wires into the connecter myself. thats where I made the C@*k up.

You live and learn.

I've given the system for repair hopefully it can be fixed.

Thanks for the help

As a general comment for all modders. When you modify a car use the old (removed) connector as a guide. The pin numbers only for COMAND 2.0 NEVER change but the wire colours do. By tracing back the pins you can do your own car specific chart.

The problems only seem to arise Pre-2000 and in ML.

Pins numbers themselves do actually change on other modules.

just been told that the comand is dead:( :(. so looking for something to replace it now??

Another comand or something else??

Buy one with a broken CD and take the bottom module.

been checking ebay for that cant seem to find any. But will keep looking thanks

let me know if you come across any
