Hi All,
Needing something slightly larger than the saloon I came over to England in last week, I had a quick glance at the autotrader website on Sunday morning. Not imperative I found something, I could have left the things I'd bought until later in the year; that said, I had not sinned for months and just sold a number plate which left £900 not so much burning a hole, but perhaps warming a pocket!
Then there it was, just up the road.
I’m not bothered by high milers if they have been looked after, better a car that has been started less and covered two or three times the distance than a townie that has failed to reach temperature too often and started six times a day imho.
I’d had a multi valve years ago and put about 90k from 85 to 175 without any major problems so the prospect of this wasn’t really too worrying, however, heading for the 500k km badge I did give it a couple of hundred mile run first.
Well, it delivered, and with some aplomb. Used no noticable oil and returned 37mpg at a steady 75/80 over 550 miles. A very quiet motor, too. Oil pressure never lower than 1.75 and never hotter than late eighties.
I realise I’m tempting providence and now I’ve said this and it’ll need something major soon, but I just thought I’d put a word in for cars that have been around and probably enjoyed it more than not.
Oh yes, 14 hours and not one aching muscle or cricked neck, very comfortable - and change from the £900.
Cheers,
Paul
