Just out of interest, MPG on 230K

I once drove Shude's 230k. It was right after that I decided to transplant a 230k engine into my coupe (not happened yet due to other pressing work ;)) All I can tell you is that the horizon suddenly hits you in the face and that funny yellow triangle in the centre of the instrument cluster keeps winking at you.

I used to get about 28 mpg out of my SLK230K:bannana:

When I first picked my 1999 CLK230 up (last year) in Spain we needed to drive a fair way back to Portugal. The first thing I did was check consumption as it would give me pointers if there was an unseen problem lurking. Since then I just fill the tank up when it needs it.

Here are the results.
I checked it over 1000KM (it's left hand drive)

Fuel Consumption (13 May 2007)
117.6 Litres 1000km= 11.7L/100KM cruising at around 145km/h
24.143mpg over 621.4miles running at around 85-90mph.

My clk 230k is usually somewhere around the 28mpg mark but on runs to Manchester (roughly about 100miles away) i usually get 34 but on a clear run once i got nearly 38mpg.

I run mine every day in town and get on average about 24.mpg This increases to about 28mpg on a long motorway run.

Our C230k, fully loaded with roof box returned 35mpg, one a stedy run of 120miles from Wassenaar to Roermond last year, last Christmas it only managed 26mpg, this was stuck in traffic for 2hrs at Antwerp on our way to Roermond from Dunkerque, i realy believe that with a light load and a steady foot i could coax 40mpg out of ours, never really had the opportunity and can't keep below 90mph as it does it so easily. but a gues is we get 25-30 normal mixed driving. Im taking it to the South of France next month, i'll try and keep a check on what it does, but it will be loaded and with a box, and i will be cruising at speed (conditions permitting) previous experience says i'll get 28mpg (not too bad i suppose, for a 145mph car)

Went upto Sheffield and back on a business trip with my business partner in his newly acquired Year 2000 230K CLK and it managed 36.8mpg for the round trip.

I was quite impressed as I used to run a C230K many years ago as a company car and it struggled to get more than 26mpg as an average and most of that was on motorway journeys...saying that the previous driver of the car before I took it over thrashed the living day lights out of it....new Kompressor at 21,000 miles and it had a rough old engine at the best of times.
