Just retrofitted Xenon lights to my SL

Well i finally found a set of Xenon lights! Fitment was straight forward but removal from the other car was not!!

Looks great, I've always liked the look of these Xenon projector headlights on these SL's.

Your SL looks fantastic with the AMG kit, panoramic roof and the facelift lights front & rear. Nice combination :bannana: Just need the facelift mirrors & bootlid with brake light to complete the transformation

Why? Did the owner catch you removing them?

Just Kidding!!!! Heh sorry that was the first image that ran through my head. I'm guessing you had fun removing the ballast units etc.

To be honest i don't think the shape of the facelift mirrors matches the rest of the car.
Believe it or not it was an option on an AMG equiped car to remove the tailgate light so the rear amg spoiler could be added. Its a 1997 car so could have come with one.


Removing the ballasts out of the other car was hard work. On the driver's side the bumper has to be removed to take out the ballast. Ended up cutting the cable asnd soldering it back together!

Your SL looks fanatastic as it is, I quite like the facelift mirrors with the AMG kit, but I know what you mean they don't really go with style of the rest of that shape.

The things Merc think about! Although I like boot lids with the thrid brake light. Thought it looked odd when they first did it but it kind of grew on me.

I'm pretty sure the R129 corners are different from the W202. Take a comparitive look at Graham's C230K and Dorian's SL320.

Already ordered the crystal clear blinkers........
The old blinkers don't look right with xenons.

And ordered my silver indicator bulbs to stop the fried egg look!
And i've seen this AMG exhaust, facelift steering wheel, illuminated door sills.... someone stop me!

I agree. The last SLs look much slimmer than the older ones. Even the body kits available were tempered to a slimmer look. There is no way you could kit out a face lift with an AMG kit or vise versa it would just look wrong. Nice lamp conversion do you see a difference when driving with them?

The clip behind the passenger indicator is broken, so will not be of use. I was wandering why the light was glued in
