K&N Filters in CLK55?

I found these on e-bay and wondered if they were any good in my CLK55?

Anyone have any experience of these or should I stick with genuine AMG parts?

K&N air filterc can cause premature failure of the MAS sensor.

I would stick with the original one.

You can also buy them elsewhere for less. For the minimal gain you would get I really don't feel it's worth the risk of ruining your MAS by fitting oil-based filters.

MAS failures seem increasingly common on cars from all manufacturers, but having an oil-based air filter seems to drastically increase the chances of failure. For the amount of benefit you would get, it's probably best stick to OEM.

Having done some research it appears that the oil used to trap the dust can seap through the filter into the air stream. It can then stick to the hot wire in the MAS, distorting the readings, and therefore causes fuelling problems.

I doubt you will notice any power difference with the K&N filter ...

Anyhow, keep it original AMG .. you should not try to economise or be clever on important stuff like the air filter. Could it change the sound of the V8?
