Hi all
I opened up my key, (opens and locks the doors but will not turn in the ignition), to find a little button loose in there. I have a two button key (lock / unlock) and the circuit board has two buttons on it . The button that is loose appears to have come from where a third button should be on the circuit board. I am guessing that it should be attached in order for the key to work?
Can anyone advise how to replace/repair please?
Any help appreciated.
TIA

Keith

You do not need the buttons to make the car start. Did you check the coil at the tip of the key, this is the one that powers up the key at the ignition slot and the coil is often broken (soldering issue or physically broken).

Being a bit stupid, I checked that it was physically in place but didn't think to check if it worked electrically.....
I will do that later.
It did used to work when we first got the car, but started to become intermittent and then went into a total fault condition.
Thanks for the post... :)

Being curious, I just went and checked the coil and found it to be open circuit, so that is why it is not working....
Anyone know where I can source one of these coils please?

Keith

Yes, we have a second key that works just fine, I just want to get this one sorted out in case the other one decides to go the same way....:(

The only way to get the coil is from another key from either a scrap yard or eBay.
More importantly you will need the know how and equipment to do the job or bring it to someone like a phone repair shop or similar.
